A unanimous 8th Ohio District Court of Appeals panel held Thursday that evidence presented at John Ruediger’s trial showed that he sent sexually explicit photographs and messages to the boy, including after he saw the then-eighth-grader through a bathroom window from the boy’s backyard.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An appeals court Thursday upheld the conviction of a former member of Streetsboro City Council who sent lewd photographs to a 13-year-old boy and tried to sneak into his home.
Ruediger parked a block away from the house, walked through the boy’s backyard and up to the back door, the records said. The boy sent Ruediger a message telling him to leave because he heard his mom, the records said. The next morning, the boy’s mother checked the home’s surveillance video and saw a man coming to the back door, the records said. She then checked her son’s phone and discovered the messages and notified police, the records said.
