Vile death threats and social media messages directed at an animal rights activist have revealed the dark side of the public and media backlash against increasing vegan activism across Victoria.

Ms Garrett, who has also been involved in protests against duck hunters, says strangers "constantly" wait in cars outside her house and drive away when she tries to take their registration numbers. A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed they had received "information of threats being made via social media" but would not comment on the woman's version of their conversations.

"We have personally been subjected to an appalling stream of threats of extreme violence against ourselves, our family, our staff and even their families."

She's a thief (the goats and other animals) and a vandal (to property) and she has engaged in and instigated questionable activities that border on terrorism. Why on earth wouldn't she expect pushback?

Seriously who cares?

its terrible the things some people say, and do, but people wont stop on either side. and social media just makes it easier.

The claims of this activist are most likely made up or massively exaggerated. The messages have probably been sent by associates. This is the kind of thing these activists do to get publicity & attack their targets. Fairfax should ignore them.

Strangely people do not like it when they are treated the way they treat others. This woman forced the closure of someones business.

So it's ok the her to list farmers names and address on a website so they can be harassed and threatened but when it happens to her, well she doesn't like it and wants protection. She should have thought about her actions consequences.

So vegan vandal doesn't like the heat. Treat others as you would be treated girly.

Standard victimhood. I did the wrong thing, and there was a backlash against me, so you guys are to blame.

'From' not 'towards'. Fixed it for ya.

She made her bed.....now she has to sleep in it.

What does she expect when she instigated the situation?

Was Monday's protest about veganism or animal cruelty?

Oh no, the aggressive, criminal activists are getting aggressive responses when they intimidate, steal from & threaten their targets. What poor victims they are...

Theif,trespasser and terrorist.
