A key player in the college-admissions scandal is expected to plead guilty in federal court in Boston; his charges carry as many as 20 years in prison

BOSTON—A crucial player in the college admissions cheating scandal is expected to plead guilty in federal court here Friday, according to federal court filings.

Prosecutors say Mark Riddell, 36 years old, helped teens cheat on college-entrance exams by correcting their answers, often to achieve a score that was higher but not so high that it would arouse suspicion.
