The jury in the high-profile murder trial of Greg Lynn, the former Jetstar pilot accused of killing two campers in Victoria's High Country, has been discharged moments before opening arguments were due to get underway.
Mr Lynn, 57, is standing trial over the deaths of retirees Russell Hill, 74, and Carol Clay, 73, who set out camping in Victoria's alpine region in March 2020 and never returned.He pleaded not guilty to both charges in the Supreme Court of Victoria before a 14-person jury was empanelled on Thursday.But the jury was brought back into the courtroom and told they would be discharged for "technical reasons" shortly after the trial resumed on Friday morning.
"It's my melancholy duty to explain to you that you've now been discharged as a jury," Justice Michael Croucher told them."I've taken the view in consultation with the parties that it's appropriate you be discharged and a new jury be empanelled."Jake's support worker tells him to settle down.
