Greg Lynn, 57, is accused of murdering Carol Clay and Russell Hill, who on a camping trip in the Wonnangatta Valley, east of Melbourne.A jury will hear from about 100 witnesses during a trial that could last up to six weeks after Mr Lynn pleaded not guilty.
Mr Lynn, who was dressed in a dark-coloured suit, stood in front of dozens of potential jurors and formally pleaded "not guilty" to murdering Russell Hill and Carol Clay. "It will be alleged Mr Lynn shot Mrs Clay in the head and as a result killed her, and that Mr Lynn killed Mr Hill," he said.Mr Lynn, now 57, was arrested and charged by police in November 2021.The court was told about 100 witnesses could be called to give evidence in the trial, including Mr Lynn's wife Melanie, family members of the deceased, scientists, fellow campers and police.
The prosecution team is led by Daniel Porceddu, while barrister Dermot Dann KC is spearheading Mr Lynn's defence.
