A provincial court trial for a constable with the Cape Breton Regional Police is now scheduled to continue in September.
He was charged after an investigation by the Serious Incident Response Team which investigates all allegations of serious wrongdoing against police in the province and New Brunswick. The female complainant has testified that on the night of the incident, she and MacDonald had gone out for dinner and then returned back to his place.
She said she called police because he wanted someone from the force to talk with MacDonald. She did not want him to get in trouble and that was a reason she initially lied to police about what happened.
