A young childcare worker has been awarded almost $240,000 in damages after a court found he was defamed in an email sent by his former employer to a group of parents.Matthew Bowden claimed the email implied he was a liar who was unfit for the child care industryMatthew Bowden, now 21, began working part-time at Chatswood's Hubba Bubba Childcare on Haig, in Sydney's lower north shore in July 2015.

Shortly afterwards, centre director Karen Chapman emailed 35 parents telling them Mr Bowden was"unfortunately no longer with us due to disciplinary reasons". She also called a parent to tell them that"although Matt was really good with the children … he couldn't be trusted fully".
