The issue suggests Trudeau’s conflict with Wilson-Raybould may have gone beyond SNC-Lavalin

OTTAWA — Jody Wilson-Raybould recommended in 2017 that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nominate a conservative Manitoba judge to be chief justice of the Supreme Court, even though he wasn’t a sitting member of the top court and had been a vocal critic of its activism on Charter of Rights issues, The Canadian Press has learned.

The issue suggests Trudeau may have had reasons unrelated to the SNC-Lavalin affair for moving Wilson-Raybould out of the prestigious Justice portfolio earlier this year — a cabinet shuffle that touched off a full-blown political crisis for the governing Liberals. Her retirement meant the government would have to choose a new chief justice and find another bilingual judge from western or northern Canada to sit on the nine-member bench.

Only once before in Canadian history — in 1906, when Sir Wilfrid Laurier appointed his justice minister to the top judicial job — has a prime minister chosen a chief justice who was not already sitting on the Supreme Court. In a January 2017 speech to the Canadian Constitution Foundation’s Law and Freedom Conference, Joyal echoed conservative arguments that the top court has usurped the supremacy of elected legislatures to determine social policy.

I am worried that Justin Trudeau has perhaps crossed the line from Democracy to Totalitarianism.

Now the “sources” are giving info meant to discredit JWR and show she had an ulterior motive. So predictable!

She cannot stand hierarchy! canpoli

In quote shown on PnP, Wilson-Raybould acknowledged that the Prime Minister has the final say on SCC appointments. So, what’s the problem? cdnpoli

Thats incredible those ugly brown shoes .It proves he is no leader and is dumb or color blind

So? Makes sense to anyone without a blatant agenda and an axe to grind ffs

Which has nothing to do with Trudeau and his Cronies Obstructing Justice a month ago does it No, so why is media building this counter narrative?

Joyal's 2017 speech on kritocracy to the (obviously alt-right, fascist, hate-speech group) Canadian Constitution Foundation Law & Freedom Conference:

jimmygotyme We are looking forward to rejecting Trudeau in October

Sounds like insiders in the Liberal government trying to smear JWR.

justincompetent like much of the increasingly 'progressive' judiciary, believes in kritocracy.

Who wouldn't have?

Arrogance, narcissism, grandiosity personified 😡

In this picture, Trudeau is:

A judge who actually adheres to the laws as written instead of making it up as he goes along...what a novel idea.

I wonder if PM Trudeau has the mental capacity to understand the importance if dissenting opinions.

Now there's a fucking scandal, a PM disagreeing with a Cabinet Minister. What's next, Snicker bars at every MP bench? Get on it !!

...because he doesn’t want a conservative interpretation of the constitution and charter of rights...that it should only be the liberal interpretation?

I’m amazed how this story won’t die even thought JT said the original leak was nothing.

Why am I not surprised ? What's next ? LetHerSpeak TrudeauMustGo CDNpoli

More bullshit from Trudeau to try and change the channel.. and the fakenews media bites hard.. lavscam

I bet a whole lot of people are going to comment on this tweet without reading the story.

And his expertise in this area is what? I didn't know JustinTrudeau had a law degree?

Senators challenged to prove their independence by inviting Jody Wilson-Raybould to testifyThe Liberal majority on the justice committee shut down a study of the SNC-Lavalin scandal and declined Wilson-Raybould’s offer to testify again Stop perpetuating the myth that JWR has been muzzled. No one is stopping her from speaking. Why don’t you interview her? speakjodispeak It's blatantly obvious that something happened which should not have. Canadians have a right to know what that something is so they can draw their own conclusion. The Liberals are trying their typical distractions but I don't think it will work this time. Canadians aren't stupid

But keep voting for a shiny pony promising unicorn farts and handouts. cdnpoli If transparency doesn’t happen now Canadians will believe Canada is now under a dictatorship. Relations between Trudeau, Wilson-Raybould began to fray over her Supreme Court pick: SourcesRelations between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and then-Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould first began to fray in 2017 over concerns about her choice to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court of Canada. You might want to read the Judges statement before you use yourCon talking points! Please don’t be SO obvious! Trudeau has lost all confidence from his own party. The country despises him. He’s over his head! He has a name only. He’s a girly boy Drama teacher, trust fund baby that reads a script whenever he’s on camera! He’s an embarrassment! TrudeaMustgo That doesn’t change the fact that Trudeau and his Cronies committed Obstruction of Justice a month ago does it? No,so why is the media pushing a narrative to say they were having a “personal” issue when there was no issue at all?Let the PM and his Cronies do the smearing please..
