Jody Wilson-Raybould plans to provide further evidence to House justice committee, letter says GlobePolitics

MP Jody Wilson-Raybould speaks to constituents in her riding of Vancouver Granville in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 14, 2019.Former attorney-general Jody Wilson-Raybould says she plans to provide further evidence to a parliamentary committee to show there was high-level political interference in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.

In testimony last month, Ms. Wilson-Raybould said she faced “consistent and sustained” pressure from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and top aides to override federal prosecutors and negotiate a deferred prosecution agreement with SNC-Lavalin.In her letter Thursday, Ms. Wilson-Raybould said she intends to submit evidence that had been asked of her when she testified before the justice committee on Feb. 27.

However, Ms. Wilson-Raybould indicated in her letter that she cannot talk about the period of time when she was shuffled out of Justice and as attorney-general in early January to her resignation from cabinet on Feb 12. That period of time is still covered by cabinet confidentiality and solicitor-client privilege. The B.C. Liberal MP has said she wanted to return for a second round of testimony to explain what transpired during this period, including two conversations with Mr. Trudeau.

However on Tuesday, Liberal MPs on the justice committee shut down hearings on the matter, preventing Ms. Wilson-Raybould from returning to testify.Liberal MPs are also expected to use their majority on the House ethics committee next Tuesday to block an attempt by Conservative and NDP members to mount an inquiry and have Ms. Wilson-Raybould testify.

globepolitics No matter what Puglaas will say, there will always be the question as to why she did'nt resign at the time the so-called interference occurred.

globepolitics Enough talk just release the dam documents!

globepolitics However it is still confined by the gag order, don’t forget to mention that!

globepolitics Hope she drops them off one at a time through the media.

globepolitics No she is providing documentation she said she would deliver Feb 27th....why has it taken almost a month do do that if she had all this evidence in hand? It's time for the media to start getting a but curious here about the inconsistencies that are mounting up here in this drama

globepolitics Why? Time for PM to give her the door along with Ms. Philpott

Senators challenged to prove their independence by inviting Jody Wilson-Raybould to testifyThe Liberal majority on the justice committee shut down a study of the SNC-Lavalin scandal and declined Wilson-Raybould’s offer to testify again Stop perpetuating the myth that JWR has been muzzled. No one is stopping her from speaking. Why don’t you interview her? speakjodispeak It's blatantly obvious that something happened which should not have. Canadians have a right to know what that something is so they can draw their own conclusion. The Liberals are trying their typical distractions but I don't think it will work this time.
