Kezia Dugdale's homophobia claim about blogger's tweet 'absurd'

Mr Campbell subsequently launched a legal action, arguing that his tweet was intended"though caustic, to be jocular" and saying Ms Dugdale had defamed him by suggesting he was homophobic.

The UK Labour Party previously paid for Ms Dugdale's representation in court, but cut this off in September last year.Mr Campbell told the court that his tweet was making a"commentary" that Oliver Mundell was"a very very poor public speaker". Mr Campbell likened it to another online comment where the writer wished controversial columnist Katie Hopkins had never been born.

I also think it's absurd to criticize me just because I publicly long for a person's existence to be unmade.

It is how the world is now, don't agree with someone... call them _phobic... or play a _ist card. Unfortunately, the so called 'tolerant' are often the most intolerant, and anyone that disagrees with their point of view just gets labelled.

Stu Campbell, there's a blast from the past (games journalist). Not often I've agreed with him, indeed had a flaming online argument with him once I remember, but he's clearly right in this case. Should be an easy win for him here.

People need to lighten up or Political correctness will be the death of us! Currently 'Context Does not matter' in Scotland! As proven by the ridiculous case against CountDankulaTV. We expect consistency, so throw the book at Kezia Dugdale or repeal these laws & pardon Dank.

What an inane trial and waste of public resources. Just an example of manipulating the hyper sensitive nature of society/the press for political and financial goals.

Have to be so carefull what ‘we’ say in 21st century Britain !

Then it is for that: that we give you £2 billions. What's wrong with you Charlies. Anyway you have to know (BBC) that we will sue you for advertising the usurpation of our identity and title. 'Do your duty Charlies...'.

The way I read it, he said that implying the son would never have been born. I hope I don't have to explain the sexual relationship with the mother would've ended You can't just go around and call people _phobic or _ist without the evidence to back it up, or else face the music.

BBCPolitics Stop toffs nanny state.

I agree with her & think we should stop calling these people 'bloggers'. They're usually just blokes shouting online about whatever they want & have managed to learn how to sign in to a website.

What the world needs is more people arguing over what they meant when they said something.

Regardless of how this action pans out, the very fact that a politician is being held legally accountable for their own words will hopefully hammer home their fundamental civic responsibility.

Worst thing about this case is the publicity for Wings.

Another misleading headline. She's going through the courts and that reads like they said this when actually it's the person she's calling homophobic. Why are you supporting so much hate and homophobia recently BBC? Sort your headlines out. anothershitbbcheadline
