Court denies lawyer’s bid to set aside contempt proceedings brought by A-G

THE Federal Court has dismissed lawyer Arunachalam Kasi’s motion to set aside contempt proceedings brought by the attorney-general over comments made on an affidavit filed by a Court of Appeal judge. A five-judge panel, led by Ramly Ali, unanimously ruled that Arunchalam’s motion failed to prove that Tommy Thomas had acted ultra vires in his application for contempt proceedings.
