Magistrate indecently assaulted teenage boy in 'ritual', court told | gmitch_news

A NSW magistrate has denied allegations he groomed a teenage boy known to him by encouraging him to sleep nude in the same bed, before repeatedly performing a "ritual" of running his hands over the boy's naked body from head to toe.

Crown prosecutor Mark Hobart, SC, said Mr Curran bought the boy's mother and stepfather a car and paid off some debts for them, meaning they "thought a lot of the accused and they trusted him".Mr Hobart said the boy would often stay with Mr Curran on Friday nights before going sailing the next day. While his brother slept in the spare room, the boy would sleep in Mr Curran's bed, Mr Hobart said, where he was encouraged to remain naked.

Mr Hobart said Mr Curran – who called the boy his "little chicken" – would on some Saturdays lock the bedroom door, pull down the sheet and "become excited" as he ran his hands over the boy from head to toe, allegedly telling him, "just relax and close your eyes and enjoy the sensation of my fingers".

Mr Hobart said when the boy spoke to Mr Curran about the alleged abuse, he was told he had to forgive the older man "like Jesus forgave people".
