Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh says state laws blocking taxpayer-funded church repairs are 'pure discrimination'

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review cases concerning whether it is lawful for the government to block historic preservation funds from going to religious buildings such as churches.

"At some point, this Court will need to decide whether governments that distribute historic preservation funds may deny funds to religious organizations simply because the organizations are religious," Kavanaugh wrote. The nation's top court last addressed the matter in 2017, when it found that it was discriminatory for states to block taxpayer funds to religious schools, but limited their opinion in a footnote to the very specific case of playground resurfacing. Justices Clarence Thomas and Gorsuch at the time took issue with that limitation.

Kavanaugh seemed to take issue with that interpretation, decrying what he called the"No religious organizations need apply" rule that he said"appears similar" to the playground case.

Well now.. anyone surprised here? Guess someone needs to read the Constitution again!

What now my taxes will go help pay for church repairs. Next they will have to pay the defense bills for all the predator rapist priests and there are lots of them.

When churches pay taxes . . . still a violation of separation of church and state. Churches suck our communities dry and give nothing in return but platitudes and opium for the masses.

How can an entity that pays no taxes expect to receive any form of tax dollars?

Yeah real “discrimination”: churches don’t pay taxes so why should foot the bill for those churches.

Your headline conveniently leaves out the repairs are for historic preservation. It makes a difference.

Huh, So will he apply this “discrimination” argument when other entities, that he ideologically disagrees with, come knocking for some tax-payer funds for “repairs”?

Rapist says what?

Why would a church need taxpayer money for repairs?

Churches should only get the funds if they start paying taxes.
