NEWARK, N.J. — One of the conspirators behind the George Washington Bridge lane closing scandal blamed the “cult and culture” of Chris Christie before being sentenced Tuesday to 18 monthsThe bizarre political stunt, which became known as Bridgegate, was designed to help the Republican governor’s career, but ended up halting his march toward the White House.
Baroni said he did nothing to stop the political scheme, which involved closing lanes to the world’s busiest bridge to cause severe traffic problems over the course of several days in September 2013.“I’m broken. So much good that I have done in my life I destroyed,” Baroni said, openly crying as he stood to face the court. “I deeply disappointed my friends and my family and my father. I’m so sorry.
She also ordered Baroni to complete a year of supervised release, 500 hours of community service and pay nearly $22,000 in fines and restitution., a panel of judges sitting on the Third Circuit upheld the seven wire fraud and conspiracy counts on which Baroni and Kelly were convicted, but dismissed two civil rights-related convictions.
Attorney Carlos Ortiz called Bridgegate “one of the most idiotic stunts in the history of New Jersey politics.”
Another liberal witch hunt.

Baroni will survive. Boss Christie may be less likely to do so as he can’t seem to stop seeking more airtime, book deals, and associations with sleazy politicos and pundits. His tits will be in the wringer again, soon. Next time to jail. Bet on it.
Right. He did it all himself.
Who will be outraged after this much time has passed. T h at s what these elite government people count on. Worked for him. Irresponsible. I think at least one person died in that debacle. Should be manslaughter charges I think. Got off e a s y
Yea. So long ago. So damaging and he got off easy. What about Christie?
Is he related to Phil “the NY Badass” Baroni?
I have a hard time feeling sympathy after what he did the Senator Lautenberg. And Christie walks away from this “free”
SteveKornacki This guy was as much a rising star in NJ Politics as anyone. Astonishing to see how the Blue Collar Republican who seemed likely to run state-wide as a different kind of Republican now heads to jail.
Wow.
People were delayed at the bridge for longer than that.
Wow. That took a long time.
When Krispy Cream Christie going in ?
How to piss away your life... Why the hell aren't the democrats in the FBI, DOJ, IRS, NSA, CIA, in jail for the criminal acts AGAINST THE PEOPLE/CONSTITUTION OF THE USA?
