How to opt out of organ donation as the Max and Keira law is set to be passed ‘within days’

Known as ‘Max’s Bill’, or ‘Max and Keira’s Law’, this new legislation will mean that, rather than having to opt-in to organ donation, your consent to be an organ donor will be presumed as a given unless you’ve specifically chosen to opt out.

The law is associated with these two children because Max Johnson’s life was saved by a heart transplant, and the heart he received was from a nine-year-old girl called Keira Ball.

If you want to opt-out, you’ll be able to register, similar to the way you have to register to opt-in now, and there will be an NHS app that you can use which is due to launch at the end of 2019. At the moment, and until the law changes, organ donation operates on a voluntary opt-in scheme. However presumed consent on organ donation has been in effect in Wales since December 2015, and theDonating organs can enhance or save the life of the recipient of the transplanted organ.

There are thousands of people in the UK waiting for an organ transplant and, due to a shortage or donors, some will sadly not be matched to a suitable organ.

Max and Keira's organ law set to passUnder it, people in England will be presumed to consent to organ donation unless they opt out. So now the state will be able to hack people's bodies parts out, without even having the people's consent, what a dreadful society. If Christopher Chope objects to this I will personally kick him square in the balls. This is the right move. Dead, our organs are of no use to us, but they can help sustain life for others. If you want to be selfish - opt out.
