This was the wreckage left behind after a suspected drink driver ploughed into a barrier near to the M60. Officers were called out overnight to junction 19 at the Rhodes roundabout, between Middleton and Higher Blackley.
When they arrived, they discovered a silver Ford Focus appeared to have been driven into a metal barrier. An image from the scene, shared by North West Motorway Police, shows the front of the car completely wrecked following the smash. Almost all of the car was found on a grass verge, with just the rear wheels still touching tarmac. North West Motorway Police cops said they were alerted to the incident by National Highways.At the scene, the driver was given a breathalyser test for alcohol. After being found to be more than twice the legal limit, they were arrested on suspicion of drink driving while officers seized the damaged Ford.
A spokesperson for North West Motorway Police tweeted: "Police were requested by National Highways to attend the scene of this one vehicle collision at J19, M60. The driver was arrested for providing a positive breath test and the vehicle was seized. #Fatal4"
