Former President Donald Trump left his arraignment hearing in Washington, D.C., feeling at least slightly frustrated in part because the judge presiding over his arrest referred to him as"Mr. Trump," multiple court watchers speculated.

The tension over the former president's title was also apparent because his attorney, John Lauro, used"President Trump" when referring to his client. Not only did Upadhyaya have multiple family members in attendance for the court hearing, but several federal judges who serve in the federal district court were present, including Chief District Judge James Boasberg, District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, and District Judge Randy Moss. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who will preside over the remainder of Trump's case, was not present.

“I am told that the former president, one thing that irked him particularly, was during that hearing today that lasted about 27 minutes, was when the magistrate judge referred to him as simply ‘Mr. Trump,’” CNN's Kaitlan Collins said.
