The duo pleaded not guilty for possessing stolen items and breaking into a house in Benut early this month.

The accused, Mohd Azinee Taib, 33, Muhamad Hairul Hafiz Muzaren, 24, and Khairul Akmal Zainol Abidin, 31, made the plea after the charges were read to them by the court interpreter in front of Magistrate Nur Azzuin Abdul Moati on Sunday .

The act is an offence under Section 457 of the Penal Code for breaking into a house to commit burglary, which provides for an imprisonment term that may extend to 14 years and a possible fine or whipping. For his third charge, Mohd Azinee was found in possession of a mobile phone that belonged to a 35-year-old man on July 3, at 4.30pm at a fishermen's jetty in Ayer Baloi.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nurezzati Zaini, while the accused was not represented.
