The organizer of a GoFundMe page to raise money for legal fees of families of two of Paul Bernardo\u0027s victims is shutting down the fundraiser

On Tuesday, Conservative Senate Leader Don Plett posted a video on social media of him asking the government’s Senate representative Marc Gold why the Liberals had fought for — and obtained — a 2021 court ruling ordering the families of French and Mahaffy to cover $4,000 of the government’s legal costs after a failed fight to obtain information about Bernardo.

“On the eve of the appeal which we argued Jan. 23 and 24, 2023 and on reserve, the knew that I intended to shame them, and they walked it back and waived the cost order,” lawyer Tim Danson, who has represented French and Mahaffy’s families for three decades, said in an email.Article content “I am hoping you will assist me with this project and ensure the families receive all money donated through the platform.”Colby Cosh: For liberals, Bernardo’s transfer is a feature of the justice system, not a bug
