Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed on Tuesday that DNA testing conducted by the NBI has confirmed the involvement of some of the suspects in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and nine others last March 4. Know more:

JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla confirmed on Tuesday that DNA testing conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation has confirmed the involvement of some of the suspects in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo and nine others last March 4.

The suspended lawmaker is reportedly still in Timor-Leste hoping to be given a political asylum status. Remulla added that the DNA result would help the prosecution in its bid to secure a conviction against the said accused despite the recantation of their previous statements admitting their in the killing of Degamo.

Teves and his co-accused have been subpoenaed to attend Tuesday’s preliminary hearing of the case at the Department of Justice and to submit their respective counter-affidavits.
