It’s a criminal offense to masquerade as a police personnel but some people still think it’s cool to impersonate a law enforcer. A Singaporean recently encountered 3 men who pretended to be cops and asked him to stop his car.

In a Facebook post, Freeman Gan WT, who was driving his friends to Genting Highlands said that he noticed a car that had been following him for quite some time on the highway. The passenger is seen holding the blue beacon light and asking him to stop his vehicle but Freeman knew something did not add up.“The car had always been at my back. The driver drove into the R&R station before he caught up with me again.

Knowing that the men, 2 of them with face masks and 1 with a clown mask might be fake police officers, Freeman decided NOT to stop and continued the “race”. During the incident, Freeman spoke to the police on the phone, who told him to drive to the station immediately. However, the men stopped following Freeman and according to a police statement released by PDRM in Kulai, Freeman has yet to lodge a police report.

Police said the incident took place on the North-South Expressway near Sedenak toll in Kulai and they are still tracing the owner of the vehicle. The matter is being investigated under Section 170 Penal Code and if found guilty, suspects may face jail time up to 2 years. The public who may have relevant information is also urged to come forward and speak to the police.

We can only imagine the consequences if Freeman stopped his vehicle for the “police officers”.
