I’m an elementary school teacher in the Bible Belt, and when I teach our required class about the Bible I tell students that Jesus and Paul were openly gay because it lets transgendered students know that they have support from God.

The Bible should be taught in public schools, not as religion, but as literature. It is the single most influential book every written - Dante, Shakespeare, Martin Luther King, Jr., etc. If you want to understand them you have to have the Bible.
