Jury selection began Monday in the second-degree murder trial for Jesse Allen who is accused in the 2021 death of his brother, 18-year-old Wayne Allen in Manitouwadge

THUNDER BAY — The trial for a man charged in connection to the 2021 death of his brother, 18-year-old Wayne Allen of Manitouwadge, will begin on Tuesday.

Jesse Allen, 39, will stand trial on the charge of second-degree murder in Thunder Bay before a jury and Justice Danial Newton presiding.Allen was initially charged with first-degree murder following an incident in Manitouwadge on Jan. 31, 2021. Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a disturbance at a Flicker Street home where a man was found with life-threatening injuries.

The man, later identified as Wayne Allen and Jesse Allen's brother, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
