One woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was struck by an alleged drunk driver in a regional New South Wales town on Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to Barker Street in the regional New South Wales town of Casino about 10:45am following reports two people had been struck by a car.

She was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland where she remains in a critical and life-threatening condition. The other woman, 74, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition.
