A federal appeals court partially freezes Texas judge's order that would have suspended FDA approval of key medication abortion pill

A federal appeals court late Wednesday night froze parts of a Texas judge’s order that would have suspended the US Food and Drug Administration’s approval of a medication abortion drug. But the court only partially granted the request by the Justice Department and the drug’s manufacturer to put US District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s ruling on hold, with the panel effectively making the drug harder to obtain.

A split 5th Circuit panel said in its new order that it was reinstating the approval of the drug because of certain procedural obstacles the plaintiffs face in challenging it. But the appeals court said that the abortion pill’s defenders had not shown that they were likely to succeed in defeating the plaintiffs’ claims against the FDA’s more recent regulatory actions toward mifepristone. The appellate order was handed down by Circuit Judges Catharina Haynes, a George W.

Maybe don't kill your children.

🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑🗑

Killing our kids inside and outside the womb. Raping our kids minds by letting them see drag shows. It's obvious that America really doesn't care about kids at all

I really wish we could stop calling him a judge. He is a rogue activist

However , the US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals is leaving in place parts of the ruling that halted changes FDA made to the rules around the drug that expanded access to medication abortion pills .

Under the appeals court's new order , the approval will stay in effect and the drug will remain on the market while an expedited appeal plays out .

The thing is moot at this point. Two federal district courts have issued contravening rulings. The supremes have it now. Abortion pills are still legal. Everyone calm tf down.

Is this a breaking news really?

Antiabortion group says appeals court lacks authority to block Texas abortion pill rulingThe Justice Department has said it will ask the Supreme Court to intervene in the case if necessary. 'the six months since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, there were 5,377 fewer abortions on average per month, according to a new report.' Every 4 months, you could overfill Madison Square Garden with all of the babies that werent killed. Anybody else find it utterly ironic & hypocritical that an deplorable organization calling itself the “Alliance Defending Freedom” is facilitating the destruction of a woman’s freedom? I guess you could say, they are defending the freedom….of wife beaters & rapists. ProChoice keep dreaming

ItWasACoup This 5th Circuit ruling definitely going to be appealed to the SCOTUS. It accepted the bullshit standing argument, and was willing to join Kacsmaryk in second-guess the FDA.

Justice Department appeals Texas abortion pill orderThe Justice Department on Monday appealed a Texas court ruling that would halt approval of a drug used in the most common method of abortion in the U.S., calling the decision “extraordinary and unprecedented.' If allowed to stand, the order issued last week by U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk could restrict access to the abortion medication mifepristone as early as Friday, unsettling abortion providers less than a year after the reversal of Roe v. Wade already dramatically curtailed abortion access.
