The rulings from federal judges in Texas and Washington were issues less than 20 minutes apart, the Justice Department said.

The Justice Department asked a federal judge in Washington state on Monday to clarify its obligations under an order that the Food and Drug Administration maintain the availability of the abortion pill in more than a dozen states, as it is at odds with athat halted the agency's approval of the same drug.

But Rice's decision came on the heels of a ruling from a federal judge in Amarillo, Texas, in a separate case involving mifepristone, which blocked the FDA's approval of the drug. Unlike Rice's decision, the ruling from U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk applies nationwide. Rice was appointed by former President Barack Obama, and Kacsmaryk was nominated to the federal bench by former President Donald Trump.

Justice Department appeals Texas abortion pill rulingBreaking news: The DOJ on Monday appealed a Texas judge’s decision that would block access to a key abortion drug across the country, arguing that the challengers had no right to file the lawsuit since they were not personally harmed by the abortion pill. Who actually decided that fox should be broadcast on military bases in the first place? Something is wrong with the system when one man in the country with no medical training can make a decision affecting the health of every woman in the country. 'Hey, you weren't ever killed, so you can't block killing.' This is the DOJ argument.
