The bill would require schools to publish educational materials such as catalogs of books kept in libraries and course curricula. Other provisions establish parental rights to request meeting with educators, address school board meetings and review district budgets. "It had a good response in the Rules Committee [despite] the Democrats trying to demonize the bill saying it's 'banning books,'" Foxx told ABC News. "It has nothing to do with that, so, no, I feel really good about it," she said.
"Their educational agenda is pretty simple: They want to ban books, they want to bully the LGBTQ+ community [and] they want to bring guns into classrooms, kindergarten and above," House Minority Leader Hakeem JeffriesSenate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer pledged not to bring it up for a vote in the upper chamber.
Democrats in the senate and the president don’t believe in parents rights. They want the state to have control of your children.

After reading the proposed bill I already have most of these “rights” as an involved parent. The other “rights” don’t say how parents would obtain the info. Are teachers expected to document and report daily on the kids to their parents? Is that really the roll of an educator?

I guess my generation has grown up knowing about banned books , book burning’s and the history of this. Spent my day in a highschool and neither of the 2 young teachers I worked with seemed remotely aware of what is happening . I tried to tell them….gently hope it sunk in.
This will hit many young teachers not following politics by surprise . When it does I pray that they will join this fight against fascism.

Parents that want 100% oversight and control over everything should homeschool. Curriculum, budgets, and conferences have always been available. Parents could come to the library anytime.

Golly gee…if I remember right…we had this back in my day. It was called Parent/Teacher Conference. Parents and teachers actually talked to each other to discuss the child and how they’re doing, etc., etc. when did this end?

In what world do they think that every parent of every student will ever decide on a curriculum? This is the very reason we elect school boards that hold meetings seeking parental input. So if I don’t like the content of a particular lesson, I alone can have it removed?
