Lawmakers approved the bill in a 213-208 vote after voting on several amendments.would require public school districts to publicly post information about curricula for students, including providing parents with a list of books and reading materials available in school libraries. This comes as some elected Republicans across the country have been intensifying a push to ban some books in schools.
Schools would have to publicly disclose their district budgets as well as the budgets of each school, including revenues and expenditures. They would also have to notify parents of violent activity occurring at schools or at events sponsored by schools.
Of course the democrats refuse to vote for a parents bill of rights. The are the party of authoritarianism

Why would the Democrats vote against this? Every parent should know everything going on in their child’s school… it’s a no brainer!! Stay involved in your students education… visit the school… attend school board meetings.. these are our children.!!

State curriculum standards are posted on the state department of education website. The library card catalog is online now. Solving a problem that doesn't exist: the Republican way.
I like the legislation, just not at the federal level. This is the tasks of the states.
This already exists , if it does not you can request to speak with a Principal. If any schools are uncooperative there are school boards and dept of education. Why make a whole bill wasting time on a few parents who have no comprehension .

Public education should be broad & open. Students need to learn about history, philosophy, classics, art, music, culture, education, humanities/religion, literature - in other words a classic, liberal arts education along with science, math & technology. It's not indoctrination.
Tell me why we should care about the performance politics by House GQP. Can any of these measures pass the Senate? Last time I check, any House passed legislation won't be law without Senate approval and POTUS signature. And you bet the latter won't happen for this type of BS.
Parents rights are Republicans requesting this BS - they want to know the curricula this has always been done at the beginning of school year -why do they want to have a list of books in the library And not a list of books they will be reading in class-they will be banning books
