The grand jury’s session was cancelled Wednesday after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office alerted court officials to the adjournment, said a person familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity since it isn’t public.
“It is possible that the DA’s office may want more time to think things through,” Sandick said. “Even if you can prove that a person did all these bad things, you still need to decide whether those bad things amount to a crime.”The jurors are investigating whether Trump directed his former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen to make payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with Trump, ahead of his the election and whether he then concealed the payments.
According to the letter, which was also posted by Trump on Truth Social, “neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign were a party to the transaction” nor reimbursed him, the lawyers wrote. The letter also said neither Cohen nor his business made any “in-kind contributions” to Trump’s presidential campaign. Cohen has said Trump later personally repaid him.
Sandick said “there are some real questions of law, with uncertain answers, about the Trump case that I have no doubt the district attorney’s office is carefully reviewing.”
