FILE - A JetBlue Airways Airbus A320, left, passes a Spirit Airlines Airbus A320 as it taxis on the runway, July 7, 2022, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Biden administration wants to block JetBlue from buying Spirit Airlines, saying the deal would reduce competition and hurt travelers.
The Biden administration sued on Tuesday to block JetBlue Airways from buying Spirit Airlines, saying the deal would reduce competition and drive up air fares for consumers.
'Blocking corporations from merging is an assault against the free market!' said capitalists who never noticed how monopolies & cartels kill competition and shackle markets.
Meanwhile illegals continue to flood over our southern border and Justice ignores it. Nice priorities they have.
The AP is now a promoted account, how interesting
Business Just Wrong!
Put tRUMP & friends in jail, don't care about JetBlue.
If the DOJ is that bored, the “talking head” and his people must have absolutely nothing else to do. Besides, when did he last buy an airline ticket at any fare? Lobbied much?
Can somebody please explain to me what the DOJ has to do with competition in business? Isn't that the position of the FTC and the FAA?
Great. Now do the leaders of the Jan 6th insurrection.
The__Juggernaut
Do the same to food companies that make products for grocery stores. proctor & gamble, kraft-heinz,Nestlé and Unilever etc. Break them up as well
How does this make any sense?
They must have shorted Jet Blue stock before this announcement. It has nothing to do with consumers. For people in non-hub locations to evolve Spirit into now Jet Blue routes would be a massive improvement. This is an overreach IMO.
Merrick Garland if you are so concerned about 'take overs' you should check out what happened on Jan 6.
No Alt text?
The Biden admin just seems to want to sue to stop ANYTHING related to mergers. Big anything is bad.
Delta, American and United must have donated more. Their acquisitions seemed to not affect the market or consumers. But JetBlue's breaking 10% market share....devastating to the consumer.
Get out of the way, Spirit needs the help! Anyone who has ever flown on Spirit would chip in on getting rid of current management.
why does this dude sound like a deepfake
Sprint being bought by TMobile was ok though?
We need the old monopoly busting Teddy Roosevelt back in office.
'Private business' does not apply now?
Maybe the Biden administration should sue United, Delta, American, and Southwest to reduce their fares instead of helping them to stomp on their competition.
Hopefully next the administration sues over the airlines discriminatory practice of making people present an ID before they board a plane.
Waste of time and resources.
I hope everyone understands how this works right The JetBlue lawyers love getting paid, the DOJ lawyers eventually want to work for a company online JerBlue. It's all optics while wasting tax dollars.
I shall buy Spirit! Replace all seats with recliner Lay Z Boys (cant afford the real ones) and all food will be served by robot dogs.
Spirit will be charging the US government an additional $75 for the ability to sue them.
We’ll slow walk prosecuting a seditious coup but don’t worry we’ll save you $6 bucks on a $350 plane flight by selectively picking and choosing what corporate monopolies we feel like sticking a thorn in
what the fuck is Donald Trump doing walking around a free man, what is the Department of Justice for. No one should be above the law DOJ MerrickGarland
Oh please, anyone buying Spirit could only be a good thing
Fed Clowns.
These politicians don’t care about consumers and airfare. Give me a break
WTH? Doesn’t he know who the government works for?
The Biden administration obviously hasn't ridden on Spirit. They need to be purchased. That airline is terrible.
Good. 👍
Now do Trump
Good
ryanwhitney6 this could've been your worst nightmare
