Kuala Lumpur: The sessions court today ordered a gas-piping worker who allegedly stabbed another person at Selayang Hospital earlier this month to undergo psychiatric examination.

Khairul Kamul, 22, a psychiatric patient at Selayang Hospital, appeared before judge Nor Rajiah Mat Zin on a charge of causing Vijayindran Purushothman grievous hurt. Khairul was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code and is liable to a jail term of up to 20 years upon conviction.No plea was recorded after the charge was read out to him.

“He has been undergoing psychiatric treatment at Selayang Hospital since the date of arrest on Feb 15,” she said.Khairul will be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan on March 29 for the test. The incident took place at the yellow zone of the emergency department at Selayang Hospital at 3.45pm on Feb 14. Vijayindran, 29, is alleged to have been stabbed twice in the abdomen and once in the back.
