Justice Michael Valente dismissed an injunction application from the region last month, which asked the court to find that roughly 50 people living in an encampment were in violation of its
trespassing bylaw.Earlier in the week, Waterloo Regional Council approved a 163-million investment in housing and homelessness, which will lead to increased shelter capacity and other supports.
waterloo needs to appeal it. the conservatives are coming to kill all of them. Save the people from the nazis.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. You cant allow people to squat wherever they want. Spend the money on supports, but appeal this ruling 100%. You cant have a lone judge deciding urban policy for cities. Otherwise you end up like parts of California with tents on sidewalks. Appeal it.
Well I didn't give them the drugs to get on the street...they destroy everything they touch...
Now it's costing the city $163 Million to provide housing for these vagrants, while taxpayers are struggling to buy groceries and pay their bills...smh
Courts should stay out of city business
Of course they wouldn't. They're incapable of addressing the issue, so why take any action at all?
Maybe they should all go to hotels in Niagara Falls along with the migrants we’re paying for. That would make more sense for them to get a hotel on our dime than the illegal migrants.
Build affordable housing
Had my boys baseball tournament there last year. For such a academic city, the place is a crack head filled dump. With injection sites right next door to our hotel, a stabbing in our parking lot (broad daylight), swat patrolling the streets and encampments all over. Disgusting!
The city wanted to appeal? Like shooting yourselves in the foot wtf is wrong with people these days. Boot those people! Save your city.
If we can’t offer them a safe alternative, then they should absolutely be allowed to stay. We need more affordable housing asap.
Just move this settlement to front of judge’s residence, problem solved
In all communities, parks will be lost to squatters.
