'Four lives were ripped apart': Woman considering legal action over mother's exclusion from redress scheme

A WOMAN PLANS to take legal action against the State over her mother’s exclusion from the planned redress scheme for survivors of mother and baby institutions.

“They went through such immense trauma at the hands of Church, State and society. Mothers like mine didn’t live to hear the apology.” Evelyn said it was difficult to relive her mother’s experiences but she did so because they both believed Mary would finally receive “some sort of justice by way of an official apology and redress”.

Evelyn said she doesn’t care about the money but believes women like her mother should be included in the redress scheme as a symbolic gesture and mark of respect. A few years later Mary gave birth to twin boys. They lived together in an institution until the boys were two years old. Nothing could ever make up for the fact that my mum had her beautiful twin boys taken away from her after bonding with them for two years. “I mean the cruelty to do that to somebody and expect them to live a life and not tell anybody because of the shame of it.

Other women dying without justice Evelyn wants to highlight the fact that women like her mother died before they got any redress, but is doing so anonymously as her mother was very private and told few people about what happened to her.Despite Evelyn being in an industrial school, Mary visited her as often as possible and the pair developed a very close relationship.

The spokesperson said the date of the apology delivered by Micheál Martin on 13 January 2021 “provided formal recognition and contrition on behalf of the Irish State for all the trauma experienced by survivors and former residents of Mother and Baby or County Home Institutions”. Many things ‘can’t be rectified’ During a previous interview with the Redacted Lives podcast, Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman spoke in more general terms about redress plans.

She doesn’t care about the money…. Eh she obviously does if she is going legal….

It always amazes me how many people who take the state to court for financial compensation have the brass neck to claim that its not about the money..she cannot make a claim on behalf of a dead person I would have thought, she's chancing her arm for a few bob of go away money..

V/important: Dad died in 2001 5yrs Tuam + Boarded out; Grandmother died in 1972 1 yr Tuam, 41 yrs High Park I've argued all who've died B4 2021 should receive an 'in memoriam' award, donated to Charity, in their name, so far they've only an impersonal State Apology Justice?

French court orders town to remove Virgin Mary statueA French court has ordered a small town to remove a statue of the Virgin Mary, saying the religious display violates the separation of church and state. We have so much in common with the French who'd have guessed I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel. (Genesis 3:15) You report on THIS but not on the stabbing of people in France 🇫🇷 sound like gaslighting to me by IrelandisFull
