The letter that Jordan wrote with Louisiana Republican Rep. Mike Johnson says it is unclear when the Justice Department learned about the documents’ existence and whether it actively concealed the information before the 2022 election.

WASHINGTON, D. C. - U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan on Friday kicked off an investigation of President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents by demanding the Justice Department hand over records on the case.

Other congressional committees, including the House Select Committee on Intelligence, where Dayton’s Mike Turner is top Republican, Garland on Thursday appointed Hur, a former U.S. Attorney in Maryland, to investigate possible unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or other records discovered at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C., and in the garage of Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware.

The statement said that after government documents were discovered at the Penn Biden Center in November 2022, Biden’s lawyers searched his residences in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, because files from his vice-presidential office could have been shipped there when he left office in 2017.
