Moazami claimed that the incident only developed after he had been waiting in line for medication but that the nurse left before she gave him his medication. He denied acting in an aggressive manner or breaking any rules.Article content In a corrections memo on the incident, officials noted that Moazami had had “adjustment” issues throughout most of his current sentence and had a history of institutional incidents including disrespectful conduct, refusing staff direction, making suggestive gestures toward health-care staff, and multiple disciplinary problems.

In his ruling on the case, B.C. Supreme Court Justice Ward Branch concluded that Moazami’s procedural fairness rights were not violated on any grounds.
