He remains at large

Nicholas Bunclark was handed a 16-month sentence this morning at Liverpool Crown Court, after being convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. This was in reference to an attack at a hostel on Leyland Road, Southport on 19 November, 2021.

However, the Echo reports that after learning of his fate, the 30-year-old held his head in his hands and had a brief interaction with his mum in the public gallery. Bunclark was then led towards the cells, before allegedly vaulting the gate out of the unsecured dock. The defendant then had a brief tussle with officers before managing to escape the courtroom. Following the incident, a heightened security presence was seen around the courts. Bunclark of St Oswald's Lane in Netherton, is not believed to have left the building, but it is understood he has not yet been apprehended. Patrolling guards were seen to be keeping watch outside the courts, located on Derby Square.
