The Supreme Court will hear the latest clash between religious conservatives and LGBTQ rights as it weighs a conservative evangelical Christian web designer's bid to avoid working on same-sex weddings.

on Monday hears the latest clash between religious conservatives and LGBTQ rights as it weighs a conservative evangelical Christian web designer's bid to avoid working on same-sex weddings.

Civil rights groups say Smith is asking the conservative-majority court for a “license to discriminate” that would gut public accommodation laws that require businesses to serve all customers.

The 2018 ruling left undecided the broader question now at issue in Smith’s case. If the court rules in favor of Smith, certain business owners would effectively have an exemption from elements ofthat protect LGBTQ rights in public accommodations in some form. The remaining 21 states do not have laws explicitly protecting LGBTQ rights in public accommodations, although some local municipalities do.

Does she avoid working on Muslim sites, Jewish sites, catholic or Mormon sites? How about site from a known adulterer l like Trump. It's a game she is playing, selective prejudice. NOT Christian. Great BIG shame on her.

This is still America and business owners reserve the right of service.

Is this what keeps scotus busy?

The fact that she is suing despite not one gay couple even wanting to use her stupid website just goes to show how committed to hate some people are to go to these lengths to get in the way of two people's love that have no connection at all to her. She is an evil bigot.

But if HER rights were being violated, you'd be damn sure she would cry victim if her religous beliefs were being violated and it would be all over fox news.

A clash that she initiated against a community that NEVER sought out her services, but one could argue was designed as a PR stunt.

Can anyone tell me how she met the standing requirement? Given that there are no actual clients involved?

There are tons of sins in the bible to choose from. Wouldn't that be great to allow all businesses to push their own upon everyone else? They have ruined lives with their cakes & pizzas with housing, employment, & healthcare. Let them suffer the 'religious freedom' farce as well

Freedom of choice. What is it with the gays? Just find a different church.

The power of government to compel speech should be thought of as one of the worst powers to cede to government.

All she would have to say is that she’s too busy to do their project that way she works according to her own beliefs. Unnecessary drama that won’t help her business

Religious freedom must be respected and she should be allowed to practice her faith. Faith is important.

Muslims, Orthodox Jews, and Christians should unite.

So your God teaches hate

She is basically asking the court if it's okay to discriminate against same-sex couples, because if she didn't she'd be breaking the law of her state. Can I hazard a guess and say she won't be in business long? 🤔

Read the article, Colorado state law forbids discrimination. She can try to change the law or follow the law.

Look at her self-righteous smirk.

Who's backing this lady and this nonsense? Try reporting on that, dig a little deeper.

A person must stand by Christian principles regardless! Evil is advancing! NBC is it ally!

The gay mafia is at it again. You MUST enthusiastically endorse sodomy.

For the party of freedom, conservatives certainly like to dictate how people live their lives.

If someone didn’t want to fix my pickup because of my beard I’d just find a different mechanic rather than fight for the guy that doesn’t want to do the work in the first place plus the results would most likely be much better.

Masterpiece Bake Shop won, didn't they? That would be precedent. But it's dumb not to work on same sex weddings...they are good clients who refer lots of business.

Trump should use this firm for the MAGA material. Then sue them if they refuse

The court will probably side with Christians given their bias but that still doesn’t make you an awful person for doing this.

'Christian.' LOL.

Supreme Court set to weigh ‘most important case’ on democracyA Republican-led challenge is asking the justices for a novel ruling that could significantly increase the power of state lawmakers over elections for Congress and the presidency Gerrymandering gives too much weight to the winning of an election and I wish there were a non-partisan way to algorithmically draw congressional lines. However, I also believe the court overstepped when it overruled the districts drawn by the legislature.

Supreme Court readies to weigh in on ‘most important case’ on democracyThe Supreme Court is about to confront a new elections case, a Republican-led challenge asking the justices for a novel ruling that could significantly increase the power of state lawmakers over elections for Congress and the presidency. Hmm, I wonder what they’ll decide. 🤔 “Confront”? “Confront”?! Is that how it works? The SCOTUS confronts litigants? You bunch of hacks. Trib Pravda. The states regulate elections. The only threat to democracy would be allowing that patented IL election fraud which installed Biden into a puppet WH doesn't permanently allow nationwide malfeasance.

Supreme Court weighs ‘most important case’ on democracyThe question for the justices is whether the U.S. Constitution’s provision giving state legislatures the power to make the rules about the “times, places and manner” of congressional elections cuts state courts out of the process. I trust the state courts less than I trust the Supreme Court, sad, Alaska used to be above all that trash!
