The Special Criminal Court has ruled that secret garda recordings of conversations between Gerard Hutch and former Sinn Féin councillor Jonathan Dowdall while they were in Northern Ireland can be used as evidence against Mr Hutch in a murder trial.
Eight of the ten hours of their conversations were recorded in Northern Ireland and Mr Hutch said this should not be used as evidence against him in the trial. She said the court was satisfied that the conversation ought to be admitted in interests of justice and will admit into evidence the conversations in Northern Ireland.
The deployment of a surveillance device in a foreign jurisdiction"cannot be read into the act", she said. The court did not accept either the prosecution’s argument that the devices were attached and removed in this country and the recordings also downloaded in Ireland.
There was always two sets of laws for the Gardai.
Whilst these recording may help put these scumbags on the hook, I don’t believe they should be admissible as evidence. You cannot give the Garda or anyone else the right to believe they can act outside the law. This will very likely be successfully appealed.
Ah Ex SF Councillor Jonathan will explain everything
The said they weren't legally recorded but it was OK? It's either legal or illegal, so he's going to found guilty no matter what!
Good!
So today we have finally see that judges and gardai are above the laws they are supposed to represent. When you have to break laws to get him your no better than him.
So basically are laws mean fuck all when it suits the state 👍🤯🤡🤔🤣🤣🤣
Excellent news.
So many recordings of SFIRA 👏👏👏
Off course 100% correct used anywhere if obtained lawfully 👏👏👏
I wonder will the IRA get a mention, no doubt sinnfeinireland won't be happy with this.
Recordings from North? That could be anywhere.
Cue Shinner freak out against their favorite court
Great Can't wait to hear what else Dowdall might have to say about his former sinnfeinireland colleagues No wonder they don't like the Special Criminal Court
The recordings were obtained on this island so I don't see why Sinn Fein supporters are so angry about this ruling.
