ASPI’s International Cyber Policy Centre Director Fergus Hanson says the new Australian cybercriminals task force, in combination with other measures, “would be effective” against cyber attacks. The federal government has announced a new task force to combat cyber criminals after the attacks on Optus and Medibank.
“When we can’t extradite them and put them into a court of law and put them into prison, this is basically the next best option we’ve got,” he told Sky News host Erin Molan. “It remains to be seen whether it’s effective, but I think in combination with other measures – it would be effective.”
