Buziak noted medical records show Yang required life-saving surgery as a result of the injuries he suffered during the altercation with Sweezey.Buziak said Campbell only needs to view the surveillance video to find Sweezey assaulted Yang after wrongly believing the bottle-picking octogenarian had stolen a speaker the accused had left on top of a CTrain station recycling bin.Article content
“What you see in the video is a situation where Mr. Tang is obviously collecting bottles; going about his own business,” Buziak said.He said based on Sweezey’s body language and facial expression he was obviously upset at the loss of his speaker, which the video showed was removed by another man moments before Sweezey accosted Yang.
“The anger’s being directed at Mr. Yang,” said the prosecutor, adding it wasn’t clear if Yang knew the speaker had been stolen.“One can assume Mr. Sweezey believes the missing speaker may be in one of those bags.”
