We are of the view that it is decidedly damaging both to employees’ careers and their emotional and psychological health.Article content After about two years he commented to Peter that he was annoyed because his less-brilliant colleagues were getting promoted and he was bored sitting around most of his time not actually working.

Quiet quitting was the essential dogma of unions in post-war Britain, an approach that essentially destroyed that country’s manufacturing sector. Howard worked at a couple of unionized jobs in Hamilton, Ont., at Stelco Inc. and the cemetery, putting himself through school. Just do as little as possible. Take lots of breaks. Talk to the customer for long periods of time about everything. Asked to do a project make an excuse that you don't have time. I worked with people who consistently did this for years and are still employed with the same place

So funny that corporations expect so much for free. They want free labour and corporate welfare in the form of subsidies.

Trudeau hired thousands of them during covid and now we're stuck with them forever

Exactly. A naive approach.

You guys are pretty spooked eh?

This is pretty much the definition of a unionized worker though if you’re going to be honest. Not all granted, but most.

Have a little pride and commitment to your career

The day of reckoning is coming for quiet quitters. Have fun being unemployed

They run into quiet firings.

Pretty sure that’s the point!

Scraping by, what a motto for success !

I know many folks who work really hard and add tremendous to the orgs they represent. To be promised raises that never come and asked to do the work of many because others are lazy or the org lacks proper processes. I get it and if the employer is willing to let them..see ya!

Good. This is a trend for losers.

'Quiet quitting was the essential dogma of unions. Any hard work was punished by the union “brothers” so as not to show others up.' Boy did I learn that as a Teacher. Shop steward was in my school & she wld tell me - you are undermining all of us by taking on after hours work!

'which all boil down to the idea that an employee will do no more than is absolutely required.' 60% production is the normal expectancy for an average office job.

Sounds like the entire Canadian bureaucracy, give or take a few.

It’s an employee’s market right now. Don’t treat people right and they quit. 🤷‍♂️

Make yourself more valuable then others ? That's right,. Put some effort into your job! That's how you keep your job while others are let go...

Sure get rid of them, but who are you going to hire. Instead of employers working on retaining the talent they have, they have pushed people to be quiet quitters. I am seeing this at work everyday. Yeah there’s no cavalry coming.

yup

Those who want to get ahead go out and find better jobs. What is the point of staying in your old job and doing the minimum?

The audacity to only work for what you are paid to do

Work to rule...

do you have replacements for them in case they are laid off?

That’s what they want. Unemployment =cha-Ching!

Lazy workers
