Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality city manager Futhuli Patrick Mothamaha appeared in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate's Court in the Free State on Tuesday, facing charges of fraud, corruption, uttering, and contravening the Municipal Finance Management Act.

Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality city manager Futhuli Patrick Mothamaha was arrested on Tuesday for corruption and fraud.

Mothamaha's co-accused, father and daughter duo Thabiso and Dimakatso Sekosana, were arrested on Monday and released on R150 000 bail each. Hawks spokesperson Captain Christopher Singo said the charges against Mothamaha emanated from a contract he allegedly unlawfully awarded to the Kill Crime Security Company in 2020."Some senior officials at the municipality wrote several letters to the suspect advising him to advertise the tender for the security [contract], but he failed to do so," said Singo.He told News24 the company offered security guard services to the municipality.
