Maybe- and just hear me out- there should be responsible use of actual facts before writing shitty articles that destroy people’s lives. No one got journos in this position but then

Ummmm no.

Good. Dont print lies and shit.

Oh the media are still wannabe politicians trying to exert power over the naive masses? Well colour me surprised!

When you consider that most of these case are claimed by the media to be 'in the public interest' because a celebrity is involved is it any wonder you've lost support?

None of the cases quoted in this article contained any worthwhile news only loose words to make money for the press. If you report factual truth and a true (not twisted) headline you won’t be sued.

'Un-media friendly'? Really?

SteveAustinABC As part of a family that was vilified & relentlessly harrassed by the Brisbane media I have very little sympathy for you.

With some of the best defences the media can use , if it’s indefensible , then it’s defamation🤔

northway_debbie 'un-media friendly' ffs diddums

Maybe those so-called 'journalists' should stop spreading bullshit because that's not journalism, that's slander

Media press were given freedom to inform the people without fear or favour BUT WITH THAT COME GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. freedom not to abuse power & privilege not to push own bias but to present ALL facts in context minus inflammatory headlines speech so people can make up own mind

The laws are not unfriendly but media outlets are extremely reckless and love the art of character assassination.

If only newspapers actually reported the news instead of reporting click bait to suit the writers political vagaries

Nothing wrong with that. Media maggots have destroyed how many people’s lives and careers

Rupert has made himself the enemy of the people.

it is designed to shut up d media just like police state Singapore Politicians would always resort to sue to grab cash

Report truth & facts, not opinion & click bait - we all win!

Good. The media have got away with murder for years and have ruined lives. Just look at the news of the world in the UK

Would this apply to The Daily Telegraph?

When it comes down to it, the great majority of journalist are employees whose job it is, is to make money for a publicly listed co. The blind faith the community formerly had in the role is being eroded. Let’s stop pretending get they are any less opinionated than the rest of us

Nobody likes the media. There’s way to many journalists and way too many opinions,

No. Judges wont stand for media lies anymore. Journalists used to be respected. Not anymore. Worse reputation than car salesmen.

And Sect.121 of the Family Law Act enables injustice to thrive in secrecy.

. You were so excited about metoo though, weren't you?

Learn how to write a headline

Defamation law in Australia is censorship by stealth. And only available to the ultra wealthy.

I hope the article isn’t as self-serving as this tweet

Media shouldnt ruin peoples lives based on the opinion of the accuser. We dont care what overseas laws are like. Media is 90% corrupt and 10% responsible - fix your own problem.

When you offer up more opinion, gossip, rumour, and less fact, is it still news?

They aren’t tough enough. Look at what was done to Geoffrey Rush and now to this man. Activism has replaced journalism. 🤮
