Brian McHugh, 37, did not speak during a brief appearance at Dublin District Court this afternoon.
Mr McHugh faces a single charge of the murder of Mrs Thompson, whose body was found at her home in Ballymun, north Dublin on May 10 of this year. Detective Garda Nicola Duffy of Ballymun Garda Station said she arrested and charged Mr McHugh, of Cairn Court, Poppintree, Ballymun, today.Bail is not a matter for the district court in cases of murder and Judge Kelly remanded McHugh in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Wednesday.McHugh, who wore a grey tracksuit top and black trousers, was granted free legal aid.
