Today, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is poised to make history, becoming first Black woman to join the U.S. Supreme Court. Jackson is scheduled to be sworn in during a ceremony at the court at noon Eastern time.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s swearing-in Thursday marks the culmination of an almost complete turnover of the court in less than a generation, as The Washington Post’s Robert BarnesFor the first time in history, White men no longer make up the court’s majority. The oldest and longest-serving justice is Black. Women are as close to parity as is possible on the nine-member bench, and the average age of a justice is now 61.

Still, while Jackson’s presence on the court goes a long way toward President Biden’s goal of having a court that looks more like present-day America, it does not affect its strong conservative bent. An 83-year-old will be replaced by a 51-year-old, but it is difficult to think of an issue before the court that will be changed because of the swap of Jackson for Justice Stephen G. Breyer.

It might take some time before the balance of the court changes as swiftly as it has over the past 10 years. After Breyer was confirmed in 1994, 11 years passed before a new justice was added, and it is possible that a similar scenario could play out now. Justice Clarence Thomas, 73, is the oldest and only justice remaining from that era, and with Jackson’s arrival, the court will be composed entirely of baby boomers and Gen Xers.

I’m not a biologist, so I feel like I can’t weigh in on this.

Congratulations Judge Jackson. I wish I could remember such celebration over Clarence Thomas being sworn in. He is a fine jurist . So was Thurgood Marshall .

But does she know what a woman is yet?

Please don't make Thomas sworn her in...

What’s a woman? 🤪🤪🤪

Pretty easy to do considering being a black female was a requirement to be considered

bc it's about skin color once again.. got it

What is a women?...🤡🤡

Too bad the Court's remaining decisions for this term will destroy any shred of credibility SCOTUS is clinging to, before Judge Jackson even has a chance to put on her robe.

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer retiring on Thursday at noonJustice Breyer wrote, 'It has been my great honor to participate as a judge in the effort to maintain our Constitution and the Rule of Law.' He will retire at noon on Thursday, and Ketanji Brown Jackson will be filling his seat on the Supreme Court. Hopefully she knows what a woman is by now... KB Jackson is not smart enough to define what a woman is, she is not smart enough to judge anyone or anything. Will Breyer write a book about the other Justices? Give us dirt on Beer Bong Brett’s drinking problem? Share any secrets about the Handmaid? If he were Republican, he’d already be working with an editor.
