If a friend of mine wanted to die and asked my help I would do all I could to help them go fast without pain and with dignity. If they left a recording saying that's what they want- why not. I've done it for my dog- painless but heartbreaking.

The basis of this law, and much of its support, is found in religious dogma. We may be in the 21st century, but the religiously deluded still seek to control how the rational majority live their lives.

My heart goes out to him and everyone who has been turned down

I find this so frustrating, the clues in the word terminal, he’s going to die anyway, but in a terrible horrible way, all he wants is to die with some dignity

You could make people with over terminal illnesses feel like they’re a burden and this is their only way out if this decision had gone the other way. Or family’s could put pressure on terminally ill relatives to make this decision.

Perhaps the real issue is being able to provide the right level of palliative care for someone in this situation.

they should make a difference between suicide and right to die, they are 2 different things. because of bigoted religious belief that suicide is sending soul to hell. the body is a vessel for the souls just like a car, house etc if it not structurally sound then it destroyed

I could never imagine what this gentleman is going through but any health professional doesn’t start their career thinking that they would end a patient’s life. And its the negative impact on society as a whole that that this decision would have.

There should be no legal impediment to when any person, decides on their time to end a potential miserable life. I don't see any decent reason to deny a man a dignified death, other than the judges excercising government policy when they are supposed to be independent.

There should be no legal impediment to when this man, or any person. I don't see any decent reason to deny a man a dignified death, other than the judges excercising government policy when they are supposed to be independent.

No-one should be told by others that they have to continue suffering - it's cruel and inhumane. Our spineless politicians and judiciary should be ashamed of themselves. ImwithNoel

Pets rightly get put down to avoid them being in pain, what’s so different about humans?

The only think I would suggest, in relation to the comments made, is that we don’t need to contemplate, consider nor reflect on our own death. Why spend time considering the end, something you have no input into, when you could be considering how you can help someone else.

So sorry 😢

If he is able he can go to Holland or Switzerland, both of which have controlled humane Assisted Suicide Laws. Too bad he can not transfer his suffering to those who oppose his right to end his suffering.

This is horrible. Been said many many times before but if Noel was an animal the decision would be made to end his life when it becomes intolerable. Can’t begin to imagine how bad his life must be and not he allowed to end it in his terms
