REACTIONS | Elected officials and politicians in Indiana are reacting to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Here's what they are saying.

INDIANAPOLIS — Politicians and community leaders are reacting to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

My office was honored to assist the attorneys for the State of Mississippi in their preparations to argue the Dobbs case before the U.S. Supreme Court. The outcome of banning abortion care will have a drastic impact on our entire state. Due to decades of underinvestment in key social infrastructure, Indiana does not have the ability to support a forced-birth society. We already have a critical healthcare provider and OB/GYN shortage. DCS is underfunded, and we have the second highest rate of child abuse and the highest rate of child deaths from abuse in the nation.

In Indiana, the days are now numbered to get a safe and legal abortion. And what scares me the most is the fact we have a state government who is ready to request that Governor Eric Holcomb call a special session and use taxpayer dollars just to ban this medical procedure in the state. It is unclear how extreme the Indiana Republican Party will go, but politicians like U.S.

— André Carson June 24, 2022 Today is a new day for our nation – when Life wins, Freedom wins. As a father and grandfather, I am happy to see the Justices of our Supreme Court have affirmed that EVERY person is granted the right to life under the United States Constitution.

They Called Us ‘Hysterical.’ Now 'Roe' is Dead. Our heavily conservative Supreme Court just ruled against the will of the people on abortion access. Flashing back to when my husband told me it would never get overturned and I was being hysterical. I cannot believe I'm raising daughters here. And you're STILL hysterical if you don't realize all this does is revert the laws to the each state. Get active in your states, you useless harridans, if you care so much.

Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade; states can ban abortionThe Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years in a decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade. Friday's outcome is expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states. Another loss for America... The Big Government loving Republicans can now use Government to force birth. But then again...Republicans do hate America and Freedom so this makes sense The Constitution never spoke to abortion. I don’t know why you call it constitutional protection? It took 63 million babies to die before the realization came. With all those abortions we probably lost a lot of scientist, teachers, researchers, and probably 1st woman President. Good. Be a responsible adult.

Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, allowing states to ban abortionThe Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years in a decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade. Before everyone freaks out: The SCOTUS has lost all relevance. Yesterday: We can’t trust states to control guns. Today: We can only trust states to control Women’s bodies and healthcare. I’m sick to my stomach. Vote them out. This cannot stand.
