“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the court said.Following the ruling, 13 states with so-called “trigger laws” have automatically banned abortions. Reacting to the decision, former President Barack Obama said that the Supreme Court had attacked the personal freedoms of Americans by overturning Roe v. Wade.
