More than 3,000 workers at 70 companies will begin a four-day week with no loss of pay in a UK trial lasting six months, part of a worldwide initiative running alongside similar, smaller trials in Ireland, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The experiment is part of a worldwide initiative and is running alongside similar, smaller trials in Ireland as well as the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, according to 4 Day Week Global.

The trial is being organised by 4 Day Week Global in partnership with think tank Autonomy, the 4 Day Week UK Campaign, and researchers at Cambridge University, Oxford University and Boston College. Researchers will work with each participating organisation to measure the impact on productivity and the wellbeing of its workers, as well as the impact on the environment and gender equality.

"The impact of the 'great resignation' is now proving that workers from a diverse range of industries can produce better outcomes while working shorter and smarter."

Inspired! 👍🏻

Needs to be pointed out to certain people in the media and politicians that not everyone works in an office

Headline looks like it was taken from a British website.

Preparing for the climate change 'shelter in place' orders.

This will just mean government get to work 4 day weeks. Most of the working people will still do 5 days.

Great if you work in an office. Anyone else is forgotten. Same as the extra bank holiday, anyone in retail or cleaning or security, which were the people in work all through covid still had to go to work. Will these people get an extra day off? Or just the office people?

It has it advantages and Disadvantages!. One big one is working in hospitality!. Late hours and early mornings.

Ask any person that has taken parental leave …. You end up working longer over the 4 days to make up for the 5th

interesting in context of evolving WFH and hybrid arrangements

They're doing 40 hours over the 4 days.

Why even trial it sure it’s a guaranteed success for fuc sake 😀

All management I bet

I used to do this at the FAI and thought it was perfect, but the rest of the staff loved working for me so much they decided 4 days wasn't enough. Its all about the culture you create justSaying Ireland COYBIG
