Five jailed over sex assaults on teen as judge blasts 'animals'

Five men convicted for a range of sexual assaults on a teenager in the Midlands have been caged for a combined 66 years as the judge blasted the gang for acting like "animals."

The 22-year-old, of Riverview, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, also got two four year sentences for sexual assault.The dad-of-one, also of Riverview, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath, was given four-and-half years for sexual assault on the victim and eight years for false imprisonment. On Monday, the woman took to the stand and revealed how the whole ordeal affected her and her family, saying: "You have ruined so much of my life."

She got into the vehicle, thinking it was friends giving her a lift, and the car went towards Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath.
